Review + Book Spotlight: To Treasure an Heiress

 To Treasure an Heiress

by Roseanna M. White

About the Book

Beth Tremayne has always been drawn to adventure. During her childhood, she fed that desire by exploring every inch of the Isles of Scilly. As an adolescent, she dreamed of love in London’s ballrooms. Now, stumbling across an old map on her family’s property she’s found more adventure than she ever craved in the hunt for pirate treasure. Unfortunately, Beth can’t escape the attentions of her family’s guest, Lord Sheridan.

Sheridan has spent years pursuing whatever archaeological interests caught his imagination. And when he discovers that Beth’s search connects with one of his favorite pirates in history, he can’t help getting involved. Plus, he finds her irresistible, even though she insists he stole a prized possession of hers. As they work together following different clues and drawing closer to danger, they start to piece together a story of tragic love and piratical adventure. But the true surprise is the treasure they discover in each other.

My Thoughts

What a fun book! Roseanna M. White returns with her trademark engaging style of storytelling packed with suspense, heart, and historical detail in equal measure, while managing to give us a fresh novel that is wholly original.

The characters in this book are wonderfully lifelike. Layered and relatable, they feel like people you know in real life. Beth was a delightful character to read about. Her bold personality and constant craving for adventure make her a standout heroine and she practically leaps off the page. Lord Sheridan is a wonderful balance to her. I must admit, I hadn’t really looked forward to him being the hero of this book, having not been his greatest fan while reading the prior book, The Nature of a Lady, though this was mainly due to the fact that I wanted Libby to be with Oliver. Yet we see a whole other side to Sheridan in To Treasure an Heiress; his sense of humor and devotion to Beth were endearing and make him a hero worthy of the title. I also loved Senara; she had a sweet personality and my heart went out to her in light of all she had been through.

The enchanting Isles of Scilly is the perfect setting for a story about the hunt for pirate treasure. White’s writing brings to life this region and lovingly paints it as a storybook backdrop for Beth’s adventures. Reading about the search for centuries old pirate treasure lends even more intrigue and adventure to the book, creating a fun atmosphere that will keep readers guessing. This, combined with gentle messages of faith and grace make for a truly entertaining and lovely read.

To Treasure an Heiress is an enchanting historical novel. For those that love sweet romance with plenty of mystery, intrigue, and adventure, look no further; this will be your new favorite read!

Many thanks to the author and Bethany House for a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions expressed are my own.
