Editing Blues
I'm not going to just come right out and say that I hate
editing. No, that isn't right; I do not hate editing in its entirety. There are
lots of times when I find it rather enjoyable, just like the first draft and
final draft and all the places in between. But I feel like sometimes it's kind
of hard to really get into gear when it comes to editing. Especially when
you're someone like me who hasn't been extensively trained in editing which at
times can make it a bit hard to know what needs to stay, what needs to go,
etc... Yet I firmly believe that when it comes to writing, the best teachers
are the stories you read and I tend to look at those as guidelines for what
works and what doesn't. Honestly, folks, if you've lived one day or read one
story, you can write a book. Really. It isn't that hard.
My goal is to get this book out in April. I'm using the
26th as my deadline. I really want to get some promotion done before the
release as well as a blog tour (if you'd be interested in participating, please
send an email to mirandaatchley7@gmail.com). At the moment I'm calling the book
"A Castle In The Sky" yet I don't think that will be the final title.
I really need to get into gear and get lots of editing
done. I have a feeling it can be accomplished. ;-) Prayers and good vibes are
appreciated.
You can do it Miranda!! :D I know, editing is not my faovurite. But the more you do it the better you'll get :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for your encouragement, Stefanie. It really means a lot. Hope you have a great weekend! :)
